NIA's Student Wins Singing Competition

On Saturday, May 23rd, National Institute of Arts' students, Jessy and Jodyanne Gumbs, competed in their first singing competition at the 3rd Annual "Festival Voz Infantil", gospel singing competition held at New Life Assembly Church in Dutch Quarter.

Jessy and Jodyanne were two out of over 20 participants in the competition. Older sister, Jessy, placed 4th successfully with her wonderful rendition of "He wants it all" by Forever Jones, while younger sister, Jodyanne, walked away the champion, winning first place in her age category, ages 5-9, with the song "It all belongs to you" by Damita Haddon.

NIA extends heartfelt congratulations to the Gumbs sisters on their spectacular achievements. NIA especially recognizes and congratulate their mother and trainer, recording artist Rosanna "Roxsy" Castillo-Scott, on a job well done. Congratulations to all.
