Known professionally as Teacher Rudy, Mr Rudolph Davis is well renowned throughout the island as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher of dance education.

 

Originally, from Anguilla, Mr Davis came to St. Maarten at the tender age of 1 month old. He was educated, trained, and worked in St. Maarten, St. Martin, Anguilla, Saba, Curacao, Cuba, St. Kitts, Nevis, St. Barths, Barbados, Antigua, Dominica, Guadeloupe, St. Eustatius, Cuba, Jamaica and Seattle Washington.

 

He began his career at the Motiance Dance School in 1997, while working with various dance schools, private institutions, and government institutions in the Caribbean followed by receiving his formal dance education in Kingston, Jamaica, at the Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts.  He joined various dance companies, taught and trained dancers and performed throughout Jamaica.

 

In recent years he concentrated on choreography and dance education. He has taught Afro Caribbean dance at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.

 

He is currently on the faculty of National Institute of Arts Foundation in St. Maarten. Via the Institute Mr. Davis touches many students in the in-and after school program in the primary schools in addition to the many students at the Institute.

 

His teaching has centred on afro-modern dance fusion, Afro Caribbean dance techniques, Afro Modern dance technique as well as Classical ballet for beginners and Creative dance. He is much in demand as choreographer for Queen Pageants.  Mr. Davis choreographs to any dance form.
